Is the city taking taxpayers for a ride?

Well, my soultion is take their free rides away and if they don't come in after hours when needed just fire them like I would of been fired. If our council and mayor had any backbone this is the action they would take. Maybe Judy can get this done as she seems to be the only one that really what to question this massive waste of free rides. O" when yoiu see a free city car or truck driving around take a look to make sure someone is not laying down in the back seat for an extra free ride on the taxpayers. I would also like to thank the Panagraph for their hard work in reporting this waste and being honest with us about city hall and trying to protect our tax money. " .

Woman IDs bat-wielding robber

A Fort Wayne man accused of entering a north-side home and robbing a woman while armed with a plastic baseball bat in August was formally charged Monday.

Larry Robinson, 27, of the 4400 block of Sanford Lane, is charged with burglary, robbery and criminal confinement after his photo was picked out of an array by the robbery victim in August.

Robinson had not been arrested as of Tuesday night.

Fort Wayne police were called to the woman's home in the 2300 block of Leroy Avenue about 9 p.m. Aug. 20. She was in her house grading papers when about 8:55 p.m. she heard footsteps in the kitchen.

She said at first she was not concerned because she thought it was her son.

Democrats eyeing record turnout

And based on absentee voting to date, the Democrats could obliterate that record and even rival last week's GOP turnout of 444,090.

As of Thursday the state had issued 53,936 absentee ballots — 32,164 for Democrats and 21,772 for the GOP primary Jan. 19 — according to figures from the State Election Commission.

That means the Democratic absentee turnout is on track to approach 50 percent higher than the Republican absentee turnout. Absentee voting will continue through 5 p.m. today in the Democratic primary.

Charleston County Democratic Party Chairman Waring Howe called the absentee numbers "tremendous" and said they bode well for an eyebrow-raising turnout on Saturday.

well for an eyebrow-raising turnout on Saturday.

"We're looking forward to a record turnout that will equal or exceed the Republicans on Jan.
