| Chelsea stumps for Mom at YSU
Politicians talk about the wonderful things they are going to do for people, Mastro said. After hearing Chelsea Clinton, Mastro said it appears her mother ‘‘has a more developed idea of how to actually deliver on her promises.'' Still Mastro said, she planned to watch Tuesday's debate between the two candidates before making up her mind. In a brief introduction, Clinton stated her ‘‘passionate'' support for her mother and said, ‘‘I'm here to talk to you about whatever is important to you to think about who to support on March 4.'' Questions ranged from issues such as health care and free trade — which have been flash points between the two candidates — to what can be done to give Youngstown students a chance to stay home and have good careers. Clinton talked about her mother's plans to stop tax loopholes for companies that outsource jobs, creating programs that would create jobs that can't be outsourced by rebuilding the country's infrastructure, and creating green-collar jobs by erecting environmentally friendly buildings or retrofitting existing structures.
MTB News and Notes: A conversation with Greg Minnaar; New power at ...
Minnaar still managed to give a post-race interview, despite the pain. Then, in the off-season, Minnaar learned that Honda was ending its sponsorship of the G Cross-Honda team, the squad Minnaar has led since 2005. Minnaar's understudy, teammate Matti Lehikoinen, inked a deal to lead Intense Cycle's team, but Minnaar remained without a team through much of the fall. Salvation came from the California-based Santa Cruz Syndicate team — for 2008, Minnaar will ride alongside the hard charging, hard drinking duo of Steve Peat and Nathan Rennie. VeloNews caught Minnaar on the phone as he was heading into a house party near his home in Pietermaritzburg. .
Hayashi needs improvement
Kim Hayashi can do the math. The Chandler BMX rider is 24 points out of first place in USA Cycling rankings with six points events left to determine the team for the Beijing Olympics. It's next to impossible for her to make up that deficit and earn the automatic Olympic berth that goes to the points champion. A selection committee will choose the second U.S. woman rider for the sport's Olympic debut. The first qualifier race this year is at noon Friday at Estrella Mountain BMX track in Goodyear. The National Bicycle League Coyote Nationals, not part of Olympic qualifying, are Saturday and Sunday. .
Lessons our children learn too early
Get a clue people, we have not intered the new millenium with our less than mediocre information from companies we expect to have up to the minute service. I feel sorry for the public at large that relies on these media services here in San Diego. Reinaldo helps Roar demolish Phoenix
A Brazilian triple-treat from Reinaldo and Marcinho gave the Queensland Roar a commanding 3-0 win over a 10-man Wellington Phoenix and outright second spot on the A-League ladder. A dominant performance from striker Reinaldo was capped off with two goals, including a classy backheel effort, while Marcinho came off the bench to chime in with a third late in the match. The three second-half goals came despite a spirited effort from the Phoenix, who lost Socceroo midfielder Ahmad Elrich when he was red-carded for what appeared to be an elbow to the face of the Roar's Hyuk-Su Seo in a 34th minute off-the-ball incident. The visitors remained staunch in defence for the next half hour of match time, with the scores locked at 0-0 up until the 67th minute. Roar coach Frank Farina though was happy with the way his charges persisted with their game plan.
